Quick Setup Guide - Get Started in 5 Minutes

Follow these simple steps to configure UploadsPro and start accepting file uploads from your customers.

📋 What You'll Do

This guide will walk you through:

  1. Installing the app on your theme
  2. Creating your first upload field
  3. Testing that it works
  4. Viewing uploaded files

Time needed: 5 minutes

Step 1: Install the App on Your Theme

1.1 Open the Setup Page

After installing UploadsPro from the Shopify App Store, you'll see the Setup page automatically.

1.2 Click "Install App Block"

Click the button that says "Install App Block". This opens a new tab with your theme editor.

1.3 Save in Theme Editor

In the theme editor that just opened, click "Save" in the top-right corner. That's it!

1.4 Enable App Embed

Go back to the UploadsPro tab and click "Enable App Embed". Another theme editor tab opens.

1.5 Turn On the Toggle

Find the UploadsPro toggle switch and turn it ON. Click "Save".

✅ Installation Complete!

The app is now installed on your theme. You won't need to do this again unless you change themes.

Step 2: Create Your First Upload Field

2.1 Go to Dashboard

In UploadsPro, click "Dashboard" in the left sidebar.

2.2 Click "Add Field"

Click the "Add Field" button in the top-right corner.

2.3 Name Your Field

Give your field a name, like "Logo File" or "Custom Design".

2.4 Choose File Type

Select what type of files customers can upload:

  • Images: For photos, logos, artwork (available on all plans)
  • Documents: For PDFs, Word files (Professional only)
  • Any File: Allow all file types (Professional only)

On the free Basic plan, new fields are restricted to images. Upgrade to Professional to accept documents or any file type.

2.5 Select Products

Choose which products should show this upload field:

  • All Products: Show on every product
  • Specific Products: Pick individual products
  • Collections: Show on all products in a collection

2.6 Save the Field

Click "Save" at the bottom.

✅ Field Created!

Your upload field is now live on your store.

Step 3: Test It Works

3.1 Visit a Product Page

Open your online store and go to a product where you added the upload field.

3.2 Look for the Upload Field

Scroll down the product page. You should see your upload field with an "Upload File" button.

3.3 Upload a Test File

Click the button and upload a test file.

3.4 Add to Cart and Checkout

Add the product to your cart and complete a test order.

💡 Tip: Use Shopify's test payment mode so you don't charge a real credit card.

Step 4: View Uploaded Files

Option 1: From the Dashboard

  1. Open UploadsPro in your Shopify admin
  2. You'll see all recent orders with uploads on the dashboard
  3. Click on an order to see the uploaded files
  4. Click "Access File" to download

Option 2: From the Order Page

  1. Go to Orders in your Shopify admin
  2. Open any order that has uploaded files
  3. Scroll down to the "Blocks" section
  4. Click "+ Block" and add "Uploaded Files"
  5. Click the Pin icon to save it for all future orders
  6. Now you can see and download files directly from order pages!

You can now accept file uploads from customers and access them easily.

Dashboard → Click the field → Make changes → Save

To See Uploaded Files:

Dashboard (shows recent orders) or Orders page in Shopify admin

Edit the field → Change product/collection targeting → Save

❓ Common Questions

Can customers upload multiple files?

Yes! When editing a field, enable "Multiple Files" to allow customers to upload more than one file.

Can I make uploads required?

Yes! When editing a field, toggle "Required" ON. Customers must upload a file before adding the product to cart.

What file types are supported?

On the free Basic plan: images only (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, GIF). On Professional: all common types including Documents (PDF, DOC, DOCX), Spreadsheets (XLS, XLSX), Archives (ZIP, RAR) and more.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes — 50 MB per file on the free Basic plan, 2 GB per file on Professional. You can set a smaller custom limit per field in the Advanced options.

Is there a limit on how many uploads customers can make?

On the free Basic plan, customer uploads are capped at 100 per month across your entire store. When the cap is reached, new uploads are blocked until the following month. Professional has no monthly cap. You can monitor usage from the dashboard.

Can I add notes or instructions for customers?

Yes! When editing a field, add text in the "Help Text" or "Description" section. This appears below the upload button.

Do I need to reinstall if I change themes?

Yes, you'll need to repeat Step 1 (Install App Block and Enable App Embed) on your new theme. Your fields and uploaded files are not affected.
